Recommendations ranges from A to Z , but which is true? It is nothing new, that season planning should include phases with reduced training load. Whether, when and how much should be reduced, depends on how your previous season has gone and what lies ahead of you. Following general recommendations can quickly put you on an extra loop of a few weeks, if not months, and the further build-up of your level will maybe stagnate for the following season.
