As a multiple German cyclo-cross champion, he already has proven his class. The fact that he now also won the title on the road, shows what such a cross-expert is capable of. Cross riders have a very high VO2max, a high level of strength endurance and the abilty to deal with high lactate levels, i.e. a high buffering capacity. So, it is not just the development of excellent technique on a bike, but also the development of physical capacities, that make cyclo-cross so interesting.
